About Networker:
Networker is a web-based social connections assessment that measures students’ classroom peer networks with customizable peer nomination questions.
While taking Networker, Networker’s “host” character will explain to students that the goal of the assessment is to learn about how they feel about their classmates, that this isn’t a test, that there are no right or wrong answers, and that their answers are confidential.
Once students hear this information and press the "Continue" button, they will see a list of their classmates’ names and hear these names read out loud.
The “host” character will then ask questions and ask the students to select their classmates’ names as answers to these questions. Students may select as many or as few classmates as they wish.
Implementing Networker:
Most of our clients implement Networker in the Fall and use Networker to identify students who may need supplementary support connecting with classmates.
Before implementing Networker, you may customize the Networker assessment by selecting the peer nomination questions that will appear on the assessment.
An example of a question that you could choose is, “There might be a lot of children in the class who you’d like to spend time with. Click on the names of the children you’d like to spend time with.”
As an optional customization, you may add photographs of students to the list of students so that students who are taking the assessment more readily recognize their peers.
Networker Score Reports:
Using research-based algorithms, Networker quantifies how well accepted each student is and creates a social network map to visualize how well tied each student is to their classmates.
To access Networker social network maps, log into SELweb with your login information and press the "Administrative Area" button.
In the Administrative Area, you will see tabs in the navigation ribbon, titled “Time 1 Networker,” “Time 2 Networker,” and “Time 3 Networker.” Depending on which phase of assessment your students have completed, select the appropriate tab so that you may see your students’ Networker assessment scores.
To see the social network maps, select the “Visualization” tab.
To see different social network maps, press the white arrow, located in the blue bar to the right of “Network:” to reveal a pulldown menu from which you may select different networks to reveal their social network maps.
You may interact with these three-dimensional social network maps by rotating them to more closely see the connections between students.
